Five Cases of Graefenberg Ring Removed from Chinese Women of Korean Descendant

Abstract

|
For the practical purpose of professional use of intrauterine devices dates from the work of Ernst Graefenberg in the late 1920¢¥ s. Ernst Graefenberg(1881-1957) pioneer in the use of intrauterine contraceptive devices during the 1930¢¥ S. His excellent results of the silver ring showed the practical value of the method;setting the stage of the modem era of IUD development Ota in Japan reported his initial results in 1934. Among Japanese physicians;the method began to achieve a moderate degree of acceptance.
In Korea;one time;before and after the world war II;Graefenberg/Ota rings were used for the birth control. But after the new modem type of IUD were popularized;especially after 1960¢¥ S;Greafenberg s type were not used.
Recently;we have experienced 5 cases of Greafengerg metal rings removed from Chinese women (Korean descendant) who have come to Korea to work from East-north China;and reported with a brief review of the literatures.
